- Buttermilk (for marinating)

Instructions
- Marinate the chicken in buttermilk for at least 1 hour to enhance tenderness and flavor.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour with salt, pepper, cayenne, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
- Remove each piece of marinated chicken from the buttermilk and let excess drip off. Dredge thoroughly in the flour mixture.
- Heat about 1 inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Test by dropping in a bit of flour; it should sizzle immediately.
- Fry the coated chicken pieces without overcrowding for about 6-8 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite sides.
