- 2 pounds russet potatoes
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter

Instructions
- 1. Peel and chop russet potatoes into even chunks; place them in a large pot and cover with cold water.
- 2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, add salt, and cook until tender (15-20 minutes).
- 3. Drain the potatoes, return them to the pot, and mash until smooth.
- 4. Mix in butter and cream until well combined; adjust for desired consistency.
- 5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 6. For the gravy, melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour until smooth, then gradually add broth while stirring until thickened.
- 7. Serve mashed potatoes topped with gravy.
