Ingredients
- Whole Milk
- Granulated Sugar
- Egg Yolks
- Vanilla Extract
- Heavy Cream
- Dark Chocolate (60-70% cocoa)
Instructions
- Heat whole milk in a saucepan over medium heat until steaming.
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until thickened.
- Gradually add the heated milk to the egg mixture while whisking continuously.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook on low heat until it coats the back of a spoon (5-8 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Let cool.
- For the ganache, heat heavy cream until simmering, then pour over chopped dark chocolate. Let sit for 5 minutes before stirring until smooth.
- Once the custard is cooled, pour ganache over each custard layer.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving. Garnish with cocoa powder or fresh berries if desired.
