- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 4 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt unsalted butter, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Whisk in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gently fold in flour until no dry spots remain—do not overmix!
- If desired, stir in chocolate chips for extra richness.
- Pour batter into the baking dish and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
- Allow cooling in the pan for 10-15 minutes before slicing into squares.
