- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (cold)
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup whole milk (warm)
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Gradually add warm milk to form a soft dough. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Pound cold butter between parchment paper to 1/2 inch thick; chill for 15 minutes.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, place chilled butter in the center, fold like an envelope, and roll out again.
- Let the dough rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough into triangles, add chocolate chips at the base, and roll tightly from base to tip.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C), brush croissants with egg wash, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
