  • 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil recommended)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp fresh oregano (chopped)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned. Drain excess fat and add marinara sauce; simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, half of the Parmesan cheese, herbs, salt, and pepper.
  4. In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up; finish with noodles topped with remaining sauce and mozzarella.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  6. Let rest for at least 15 minutes before serving.
