- 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil recommended)
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 large eggs (at room temperature)
- 2 tbsp fresh basil (chopped)
- 2 tbsp fresh oregano (chopped)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned. Drain excess fat and add marinara sauce; simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, half of the Parmesan cheese, herbs, salt, and pepper.
- In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up; finish with noodles topped with remaining sauce and mozzarella.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for at least 15 minutes before serving.
