Instructions

- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter until smooth; gradually add sugar and beat until fluffy (about 4 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture until just combined.
- Divide batter into bowls and mix in food coloring gel to achieve your desired shades.
- Fill cupcake liners with colored batter randomly or layer them for a rainbow effect.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean; let cool completely before frosting.
