Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Baking Powder
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Eggs
  • Whole Milk
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Pearl Luster Dust (for decoration)
  • Heavy Cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and line with parchment paper.
  2. Cream softened butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Gradually combine this mixture with the wet ingredients, alternating with milk until well blended.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  6. Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form; then add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. If desired, fold in food coloring or luster dust.
  7. Assemble the cake by frosting between layers and covering the top and sides of the cake. Lightly dust with pearl luster dust for a beautiful finish.
