Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 4 burger buns (preferably brioche or sesame seed)
- 4 slices of American cheese
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard
Instructions
- Preheat your griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions without forming patties.
- Season each portion generously with salt and pepper.
- Place a portion of meat on the hot surface and smash it down firmly until about half an inch thick.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes until a nice crust forms; flip the patty.
- Immediately place a slice of cheese on top and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until melted.
- Toast the burger buns until golden brown.
- Assemble by placing the patty on the bottom bun, adding desired toppings, and finishing with the top bun.
