Deliciously sweet and chewy rice crispy treats made with marshmallows and butter, perfect for a quick snack or dessert.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 1 package marshmallows 10 oz or about 40 regular marshmallows
  • 6 cups rice cereal such as Rice Krispies
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  3. Add the marshmallows to the melted butter and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract, if using.
  5. Add the rice cereal to the marshmallow mixture and stir until well coated.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and press down evenly with a spatula.
  7. Allow to cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

For added flavor, you can mix in chocolate chips or sprinkles before pressing the mixture into the pan.
