- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs (lightly beaten)
- 2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups fresh mozzarella cheese (shredded)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels.
- Set up three shallow bowls: one with seasoned flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with Italian herbs.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip into the eggs, and coat thoroughly in breadcrumbs.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the breaded chicken until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Transfer the chicken to a baking dish, cover generously with marinara sauce, and sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown. Top with fresh basil before serving.
