- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat eggs and mix in milk and melted butter. Combine wet ingredients with dry until just mixed.
- Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool for about 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to wire racks.
- Whip heavy cream with vanilla until soft peaks form; spread between layers and on top of cooled cakes.
