Ingredients

Cake
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix plus ingredients required on the box
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
Milk Mixture
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
Topping
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Prepare the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix according to the package instructions until well combined.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes in the pan.
Soak the Cake
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk.
  2. Poke holes all over the cooled cake using a fork or skewer.
  3. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Prepare the Topping
  1. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  2. Spread the whipped cream over the soaked cake before serving.

Notes

For best results, let the cake soak overnight in the refrigerator. You can also add fresh fruit on top for added flavor.
